Tuesday Night Run: Hard

Tampines – Pasir Ris Park Connector

Running on the pavement and running on the running or bicycle track is so much different. The lack of absorbance of the stiff concrete pavements means most of the force exerted onto the pavement is rebounded back to my legs as enshrined in Newton’s Third Law of Motion.

Due to this the balls of my feet hurt but I think I will get use to it after a few more runs on the pavement. So in the meantime I just have to bear with it.

Tuesday Night Run: Still Feeling Fine

I’m happy that my fitness hasn’t deteriorated badly after the indulges during the past weekend. Other than that, there’s nothing much to report except that it is dark running at night.

Duh!

It’s just that, I need to take extra precaution for every step I took due to my unstable knees. And oh yeah, I nearly puke out my sambal sotong and rice at the end of the run. That would be gross to say the least.

Alright adios!

Tuesday Afternoon Run: Syiok Ah!

Tampines – Pasir Ris Park Connector

The legs are still sore but what better way to loosen them all than by going out for an easy run. The weather today is perfectly good with nary a sign of the haze.

Haze, haze go away, come again another day.

Big, fat monsters want to play.

Notes:

I am still fat.

Does that help?

Nah.

Basically I can still feel some niggling discomfort on my left knee at the exact same spot that gave me problems when doing my squats a.k.a ketuk ketampi. It’s not a major pain or shall I say it’s not painful at all. There isn’t even any trace of pain.

But I decide to play it safe and not push too hard and will temporarily halt any squats exercise in the Simplefit program. I will thus replace it by performing step-ups or box-jumps. We’ll see how it goes.

Alright I’m pretty deadbeat after yesterday’s trip to Johor Baru yesterday night to make myself a pair of spanking new spectacles for Raya though I’m not in the mood at all for it. Haha. And If time permits, a round of cycling in the afternoon.

Sleep now. Don’t be jealous you working adults you.

7th Day Ramadhan – Stricken By The Flu Bug

Level 2 Day 1

Maximum rounds in 20 min = 20 sets

1 pull-ups
3 push-ups
4 squats

Supplementary Exercises:

Crunches: 15 X 3

Back Extensions: 15 X 3

Notes:

And when it rains, it pours.

The symptoms started last Friday afternoon and it escalated through the night. I started having running nose, sore throat and felt feverish. The two pills of chlorphenamine didn’t have the desired effect and my condition worsened throughout the weekend as I was confined to my bed as my temperature rose. I blew my nose countless times that it became sore and red like Rudolph’s.

Aiyoyo.

Finally, those signs start to abate today thus I was able to continue with my strength training program and boy Level 2 was damn tough! But I am happy enough with the 20 sets I managed to complete in 20 minutes.

Oh yah, I ate fried macaroni and murtabak for breakfast, maybe that was what fueled my workout. πŸ˜›

Cycling tomorrow morning insya-Allah.

Adios!

Notes:

Super tough!

My whole body was resisting every single step I took.

And it was laborious and boring.

How did I ever managed to finish all my previous runs?

I don’t know.

Whatever it is, I’m going to do this slow and steady.

Upcoming running events I’ve registered for till the end of the year are:

1. Singapore Bay Run: 10km

2. Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore: 10km

Both runs will be joined by my cousins so at least there will be company.

I thought of entering a mini-triathlon event in October but due to my swimming incompetency, I guess that’s a goal that needs to be done next year.

Other than that, Ramadhan Mubarak to all my Muslim friends.

I will still try to exercise during this sacred month but most likely the bulk of the runs and cycles has to be done in the morning since my weekday afternoons will be packed with tuition commitments.

What say you?

My Simplefit strength training program will be done after terawih so that shouldn’t pose any problem.

Adios!

Notes:

After reading Syah’s latest post, Guilty Run, I was so overcome with guilt that I told myself that I need to log in a run today by hook or by crook. Nothing will stop me unless the ash cloud from the Eyjafjallajoekull volcano pays this country an unwelcome visit.

Luckily it didn’t, as this morning’s weather was just nice for a quick warm up run as the sun decided to sleep in. It was so cooling that I decided to have my bicycle ride straightaway after the run.

Then did I realise why a combination of a swim – bike, bike – run or any of that permutations is called a “brick” session as my quadriceps started to transform themselves into those heavy bricks that are used to construct buildings. My legs were so exhausted that I was really hoping that my three rounds around the Pasir Ris Park would end as quickly as possible.

Fortunately, I didn’t suffer from any cramps or injuries of that sort though I really pushed hard all the way. Hopefully these two sessions will absolve me from any guilty feelings for not clocking any runs or cycles these past few days.
