Thursday Night Run: First

Tampines – Pasir Ris Park Connector

Went out for a sort of a trial run with the newly married man Fauzi, and my brother-in-law after the Maghrib prayers. He received a pair of Vibram Bikila as part of his wedding gifts and was raring to give it a go.

It was also the first time I ran with my bro-in-law and he was fast. Surely it must be due to all the runs he did with my sister along the River Thames.

Most likely the next agenda is a half-day cycling adventure in Pulau Ubin this Saturday.

I love getting fit!

Thursday Afternoon Run: Unconfined Compressive Strength Test

Tampines – Pasir Ris Park Connector

Will be doing the Simplefit Level 3 Day 2 after the maghrib prayers…

Level 3 Day 2

5 rounds for time = 4m 34s
3 pull-ups
10 push-ups
16 squats

Done!

I tried using the cheap compression tights that I bought online for the first time during the run and Simplefit workout. It’s not those fanciful Skins or 2XU compression garments that cost an arm and a leg.

I can’t convincingly say that it helps but I managed to cut one minute from the previous run and shaved off a few more seconds for the Simplefit Level 3 Day 2 workout.

Maybe the compression really helps or maybe it’s just the placebo effect. Or maybe I’m just getting stronger and faster.

Thursday Afternoon Run: Haze Is Back

I was contemplating whether to scrap today’s leisure run as the haze was certainly conspicous as I peered out of my window this afternoon.

The National Environment Agency’s (NEA) website was down; most likely from a sudden influx of visits from concerned citizens, so I couldn’t get the latest Pollutant Standards Index (PSI).

But considering that I haven’t been moving my big fat ass for so long, I took the jump though keeping in mind of the awful weather and my lingering cough.

Alhamdulillah the run went well and my legs were not suffering from any major problems. A few more runs and I’m sure the kinks will be ironed out by Sunday.

As for an update, the latest news is that the PSI has touched 108, the worst since 2006 and the NEA web is still down. So take care guys and listen to your body as you go out for your exercise.

The weather was still hot even at a quarter past 6 in the afternoon. I had to cut short the distance because with the slow pace I was trudging along just now, I would be late for breakfast at home today.

And now waiting to wet my mouth with the precious taste of water.

Went for a quick ride before breakingfast.

It was necessary to burn that extra calories as my dear mother has cooked nasi lemak for the family.

Well you can’t say no to your own mum’s cooking right?

Alhamdulillah I finally managed to dip below the 40mins mark again.

Although I was pretty apprehensive about today’s morning run due to the workout I did last night, I surprisingly felt fresh and fit just now and I managed to push the pace a little bit faster.

But, sorry to say, I am very very thirsty now. Maybe not enough hydration yesterday night and during sahur this early morning. Lesson learned.

Oh my!

Well have to just suck it in for another 10 hours or so.

Feels surprisingly good and all system are functioning well.

Ran at snail’s pace to achieve that zen-like trance like Running Mom mentioned so there was nary a hint of tiredness.

I had my sahur of a banana, a few glasses of plain water and a glass of Berocca multivitamin. Then waited for Subuh call-to-prayer before changing to my running gears. The run initially was dreary to be frank but my mood picked up considerably as the weather was great and there was a multitude of early runners some as old as my grandfathers if they were still alive, to keep me company.

So now, it’s time take a nap and that’s when I will wonder in awe of those working parents who managed to fit in all these exercises while still maintaining their daily status quo. I failed during my working attachment and that is something I should learn from. You guys deserve an award lah.
