My goal for this run is to treat it as an EZ run.

Take it slow, enjoy the views on display and soak in the atmosphere.

And not forgetting to keep a look-out for Running Mom and ask for her autograph.

Although I’ve planned to come early and do sufficient warm-up, it didn’t materialise.

I arrived at the F1 Pit Building at 7.00am while the Start Time was 7.10am for the first wave.

Quickly went to deposit my bag and glad to report that it was fast and efficient.

By the time I walked towards the main F1 track, the first half of the track was already full.

I inched my way forward until I nearly reached the main stage.

The countdown was officiated by the indie band from Malaysia, Estranged and thus my run had officially begun.

The initial first kilometre pace was under 7min and it was too fast for me and I did not want to suffer later on in the run.

As I plodded along the winding road, I noticed a lady with a black headdress which looked suspiciously familiar.

Lo and behold, it was the Running Mom in action.

She was running at quite a fast pace, so all I could do was just to follow her from behind.

Suddenly the Running Mom halted and later I realised she was snapping away the actions on her camera.

So I passed her but a few minutes later, she overtook me.

I wanted to say hi but she was having her earphones on and she looked real focused.

So I chickened out and continued on my run.

The rest of my run was uneventful and tried to keep my pace steady and under 8min/km.

At the finishing line, I was surprised to find a variety of freebies on offer.

Yogurt, ice-cream, Starbucks coffee and a myriad of fruits to be give away.

Due to the tiredness, I only took a banana and was lazy to queue for the rest.

It was really a great and fun experience and to beat my personal best was a bonus given that I was really aiming for it.

Woohoo!

Saturday Night Run: And When The Stomach Nearly Has Its Say

I just wouldn’t learn.

Had a similar experience last time.

And I did it again today.

My aunt gave a plastic bag full of karipap or curry puff with black pepper potato and beef fillings inside.

Contemplating whether to consume it before my run.

Succumbed to temptation and gobbled down one.

Started the run and after about 300 meters, the stomach started to feel different.

And that ominous feeling of answering nature’s big call crept up.

To sound less gross, managed to control the imminent expulsion down below and continued my run.

Everything went well as the pace was tortoisely slow and the stomach had remained silent.

Only after I ended my run that, the needing-to-go-to-toilet-a.s.a.p feeling came rushing back.

Cycled as fast as possible home to conduct my business.

Sorry for this disgusting story.

Saturday Swim: A Liberating Morning

Yesterday’s run at dusk and the night’s weight training took its toll this morning.

Been planning to do a run this morning since there is no more Saturday morning Mendaki tuition class, but my body refused to get up.

I know, it’s just excuses. πŸ˜›

But since I’ve made plan for a swim at my friend’s residence this morning, I know I had to force myself out of my lazy cocoon.

My last swim was on the 5th of August which is more than two months ago.

I was a bit apprehensive that this old pakcik may have forgotten the techniques learned.

So with a bit of trepidation I started and was quite pleased that I still remember how to swim.

Well-done!

My aim today was to try to simulate swimming half a lap; 50 meters, in an Olympic-size pool.

So my plan was to swim 30 meters, which is half a lap in my friend’s condo pool, turn around, and immediately continue on the return half lap.

But sad to say, in the return lap, I stopped with a quarter distance to go.

Certainly felt disappointed as this mean I am still unable to swim 50 meters straight without resting.

Nonetheless, I continued swimming another 4 laps I think, with the last lap being a lung-bursting sprint lap.

And to end it all, my friend commented that my legs are sinking while I was swimming.

But don’t all fat hippos do that when they swim?

Notes:

Couldn’t understand why some pedestrians can be so inconsiderate.

A group of youth hogged the whole width of the pavement and didn’t give me an inch of space eventhough I was approaching them from the front.

But on the way back, another group of youth, once hearing my heavy steps, quickly made space for me to pass through although I was behind them.

Thanks guys!

And I thought I was running 4miles or 6.4km today, but I noticed my timing was too quick and felt that my distance was wrong.

A quick check at MapMyRun, once I’ve returned showed that I u-turned too early and only completed 3.43miles or 5.52km.

Oh well…

Went on a maiden run longer than the usual 4.88km alone.

A new route and I got a little confused until I was forced to run in the carpark.

Luckily no cars kissed my a**.

And to boot my pace is consistent with yesterday’s two runs (1) (2).

Only downside is that now my two calves are cramping up.

Boo!
