Notes:

Woohoo!

Broke the 10km/hr barrier.

Usually a ride with my buddy will have an average speed of around 9km/hr.

But tonight with his help and motivation, we managed to clock an average of 12.29km/hr.

Well it may not be fast to most of the other cyclists’ speed but I’m happy nonetheless.

Saturday Cycling: Testing New Ride

2h 15m

9.48km/hr

Notes:

After the disaster of his previous bike,ย  my friend bought a new one.

A Raleigh nonetheless, which is worth double the one bought at Carrefour.

Went on a test ride and so far the bike looks solid though the seat was a bit shaky.

Hopefully this new prize posession of his will last much longer than the old one.

Friday Cycle: Lone Ranger

Tampines-Loyang-Changi-Changi Coastal Road-Changi-Loyang-Tampines Bike Route

30.89km

1h 44m

17.77km/hr

Mapmycycle: http://www.mapmyrun.com/route/sg/singapore/628819137652

Notes:

Started with the intention of trying to achieve a goal of an average speed of 20km/h (way too slow if compared to the speed of other riders).

Though this may be a tough call, bearing in mind that I’m riding on an old, rusty piece of junk that had been abandoned by my friend’s neighbours for time in memorial, I’m sure setting a goal helps to motivate me to cycle faster, rather than taking a leisurely cruise.

The long straight Changi Coastal Road running parallel to the Singapore Airport runway is really a bore, especially when you are all alone.

The strong crosswind doesn’t help one bit too.

About 3/4 into the ride, two cyclists on their roadie blazed forward, leaving me in their wake.

Tried to catch up but I was spent.

Really felt inferior at that time.

Maybe it boils down to my weak physical condition, though an easy excuse would be that my bike with its faulty gears and brakes, slowed me down and it weighs a tonne.

๐Ÿ˜›

Nonetheless, all these are just excuses and I do not want to suscribe to that.

What matter most is that I try to ride my best with the equipment that I have.

But I really do want to buy a roadie lah.

p/s: Saw the LNT group on my way back. Got to know of their regular cycling rides through the togoparts forum. Really excited seeing them cycling together but at the moment I don’t think I can keep up with them. Hopefull one day I can join them in their adventure.
